Recommendations for classic arcade game setup on Retropie in Picade cabinet

Hello all
I am trying to make my Picade cabinet work with classic games from the 80s (Pacman, Centipede, Galaga, etc...) but after configuring my Picade X Hat in emulation station, the front end works well but inside the arcade games I cannot control anything. I wonder if anybody can help with a recommendation for best emulator that works out of the box with the X hat after configuring it in Emulation Station. THANK YOU

It should work after configuring inputs in ES. What arcade core are you using?
