There's another way to fix metal slug 6 freezing at the start in retropie which worked for me but it involves using retroarch on pc. Open retroarch on your pc then just boot mslug6 using flycast then it will generate the mslug6 nvram and nvram2 which can then be located in retroarch/saves. Now all you need to do is replace the ones in retropie using the ones generated by retroarch.

@genos98 could you enable red blood? (like changing mslug6.flash\sram for demul)

@iga Never really thought about it. But the atomiswave metal slug 6 with blood mode is already available if you know where to look.

@genos98 sorry... I know only method with file substitution in nvram for demul.
For riecatst nvems i can't find those files.

Or maybe could try to open service menu by pressing combination on second controller + some on first, but I personally have never been able to do this

I dont have a PC, so is it possible to change the permission on the Pi itself?
Something like go to the terminal and use a command like "sudo chmod-a -rw /home/pi/roms/dreamcast/mslug6/nvram.nv"?

@iga i will try to activate blood as soon as i can restart my metal slug 6 again.
I found two ways that i want to try:
Either activate the service-menu by a weird button combination, or change the parameters of the nvram with a hex-editor as shown in another forum

But first i must care about the file permission ;)
@all: would the command "sudo chmod ugo-rwx [foldername]" work?

@sirhenrythe5th I've tried wired combinations with 2 gamepads, but don't get success.
Also tried took right mslug6.flash and mslug6.sram from demul and renamed it as nvram.nv for rreicast. but don't get success too....

@iga i allready confirmed that the demul-files are not compatible to lr-flycast.
Give me some days, i am pretty sure that editing the nvram with a hex-editor will work.
I will upload the modified file and give you a link to download.

@sirhenrythe5th Any progress with this (HEX editor)?
I am facing the same exact issue with these two roms and I tried with the files generated with flycast on a PC and the result is the same (i.e. still freezing at start)...
