All my quick tests with pretty little testing beyond seeing if I could get them in game.
Neverwinter Nights (Diamond Edition GOG): After installing DirectX9 it runs PERFECTLY. And so many other things do as well. This was my golden goose for the Pi, so thank you @George 100x over for making this a reality! Before DirectX no graphics rendered, only menus.
DX-Ball 1 & 2: After DirectX install, runs perfectly with slowdowns on explosions. Prior to install of DirectX the ball didn't move.
AM2R: works as good or better than the native Linux version on the pi 4. Any slowdown seems to be Box86 related.
Pharaoh (GOG): Boots up and then hangs on the logo screen w/o DirectX. In game with DirectX9 Install.
Age of Empires Gold (CD): wants a CD, but haven’t figured out how to bypass that yet.
Halo CE (CD): Crashes.
Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 & 2 (GOG): crash without opening.
RCT might be 64 bit.Same error with original CD Delux Edition installs. "File is corrupted." OpenRCT2 is laggy and buggy in Wine. I suppose I'll get around to building it myself sometime.Papers, Please (GOG), Cuphead (GOG), Undertale (GOG): In game after DirectX9. Completed Cuphead tutorial.
Railroad Tycoon 3 (GOG): In game. Graphics appear white. Menus okay.
Morrowind (GOG): Attempts to load menus. Crashes.
Civ3 (GOG): Black screen immediately. Crashes.
Goosebumps Escape From Horrorland (CD): In game.
System Shock 2 Classic (GOG): In game. Renders and runs well.
Neverwinter Nights 2 (GOG): I once built a whole ass computer in anticipation for this game in 2006 with all of my graduation money and it’s running on a $35 USD, low voltage credit card about as well as it did then (passably?). Probably not worth playing speed wise, but shocked it loads and renders at all. The text is garbled up making it difficult to progress, but that’s really about it. I’m floored. Kind of makes me want to try Fable, Assassin’s Creed 1, and Hitman Blood Money…
World of Goo (GOG): Runs well! Fun game :)
Shovel Knight - Treasure Trove (GOG): Boots to black screen. Hangs.
Hitman 1, 2, and Blood Money: Crash on start up.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (GOG): In game, but may be running too slow. (Non-OC'd Pi4). Changed full-screen to windowed mode which seems like a common thread to getting some games to work. Also
winecfg
changed operating system to XP. Note: works smoother with OC.Dolphin 4.0.2: runs Super Mario Sunshine at about an average of 6 fps.
Fallout 3 (GOG): Tested to character creation. Bodies don't render. Faces render black, but it did get in game!
Ducktales: Remastered (Steam): Boots to menu. Some text/graphical issues. No DRM required.
Sonic Mania (Epic?): Tries to launch. Doesn't.
Fable: Lost Chapters (Steam):
Wouldn't launch. Was able to complete Rosie's 3 pence challenge! No audio, though. Shame bc that's the best part of the game!Super Meatboy (Steam): Tested, doesn't need steam active for DRM, but couldn't launch on Pi 4.
Call of Duty 2 (CD): Was able to get in game. Videos work. Crashed when tried to turn AA down to 2x. This might run fairly well. Game tries to autoconfig AA to 4x and it's choppy this way.
AOE2 HD (Steam): As someone else pointed out, works.
Deus Ex, FlatOut2, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver & Gun (All GOG): In game. Gun & FlatOut 2 are kinda choppy.
Need for Speed: Underground 2 (CD): In game. Runs decently well.
Portal (Steam): Henceforth, using 1800 MHz OC. In menu, but won't show levels to begin a game. Had to use cracks to work around Steam.
Portal 2 (Steam): In game. Seems to run well at least early on.
Half-life (CD): Really took some tinkering to get going in stable manner. Menu is missing text(ures?), but works well in game.
Dark Souls: Prepare to Die (CD): In menu and past character creation. Doesn't display movies and crashes after.
Oblivion (GOG): Crashes after title videos.

Vanguard Princess 1.08 (original freeware not Steam, English patch, controller fix patch): Works very well after installing DirectX9. Must use the English patched version, where the filenames are not in Japanese font. Was able to configure my arcade stick without issue (you will need the controller fix patched exe for this). However, so far I can only get this game to run by running the exe manually in Wine Explorer; and it only works in windowed mode, full screen crashes it. Going to continue to tinker with this one, but mark it down as working. My goal is to get this running directly from the Emulationstation menu and in full screen.

@hooperre OpenRCT2 runs great for me. You just need to lower the resolution and change the render mode (I think I had a post about OpenRCT2 around her somewhere with optimal settings)
-
@quicksilver Do you run OpenRCT in wine or did you compile it yourself?
-
@hooperre compiled it from source. Doesn't need wine.
-
@hooperre heres the post on how to compile it yourself.
but i do have a install script made to do it all for us.
let me double check to make sure it is all working good, and then i will post a link to my github for it.i was waiting till i had all my new scripts cleaned up. to make a new post about suggestions for ports.
but why not help a little now
-
@exarkuniv Beautiful! Thanks!
@quicksilver Ya, I remember your thread about compiling it, but had never got around to doing it myself. I was specifically referring to the Windows version and running it in wine.
-
@exarkuniv Great that you have been making build scripts for these ports! Something I always wanted to do but never got around to. Definitely post them to the ports thread when you have a chance. Itd be great to get them in incorporated into RetroPie or RetroPie-extra
-
@quicksilver that i will be doing.
im almost done with my last batch i want to go through to make sure they install. then i need to go back and test the games themselves then ill be a making a post with them all on there for everyone to enjoy -

Good day so the Retro Devils and supreme team have been working hard to simplthis wine install. We have made a one line installer . It also does the following
- uses qjoypad to map controls from keyboard to your controller
- loads different layout per game .
- launches exe directly from emulation station .
- has ui for installing mugen or just wine and box86.
Heres our github . With how to load new games , map controls for each game etc.

I am not using Box86/Wine at the moment.
So much other things to do ;-)But this development sounds really COOL !
-
Update: i'm using the Box86 Master version (latest 0.2.5), Mesa 21.3.2 and Wine v-6.22 or 7.0-rc2. I've encountered no new problems with this combo ...
