I've split the post into a separate topic, the announcement topic for Duckstation shouldn't be used for all questions and problems related to the new emulator.

Here, in this new topic. Provide the info asked by @dankcushions - the verbose log file should especially be useful.

                this means you have a non-default /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg and/or /opt/retropie/configs/psx/retroarch.cfg. please upload them.

@isidoro80 because you have reset your RetroArch's configuration, the emulator cannot find the needed BIOS files. As @dankcushions said, the SYSTEM_DIRECTORY is not set, so if your PS1 BIOS files are in the recommended place (the BIOS folder), they'll not be found.

Rename both config files, then re-install retroarch and then the lr-duckstation packages from RetroPie-Setup, this will generate the default (for RetroPie) configuration files with proper paths and settings.

If you want to change a configuration option for a specific core or game, save a core/game Override - don't use 'Save Configuration'.

@mitu I have never restored a configuration. maybe I might have saved a configuration. if the problem is the retroarch file just delete it and retroarch generates it from scratch. I'll give it a try and let you know. so the best solution to save the configuration changes is to use the save core / game override option? thank you very much

No, don't do that. Re-install the packages I mentioned, immediately after you delete/rename the file(s), otherwise RetroArch will generate a default conf that will not work properly.
