Unable to install joy2key after update Retro-Pie Setup script
-
I am running version 4.5 Retropie on Raspian GNU/Linux 9.8 (stretch)
I don't want to reinvent the wheel and install the latest image. Because I would have to transfer my ROMs and all my artwork and BIOS to the new image.
It'd be a pain in the rear. But here's what I want to do:
I want to update Atari800 Emulator to 4.2.0 (currently at version 4.0.0)
(This is the ONLY thing I really am interested in doing, otherwise my Retropie setup is awesome. So what I do:
I go to Retropie Setup
Then go to "update Retro-Pie Setup script"After I try to update the Retro-Pie Setup Script, I get the following error after it all runs:
"Unable to install binary for joy2key"
If I go to to try to Update Joy2key it reads:
"Joy2key (Installed - via unknown)
If I click on Joy2Key and then try to update from binary
it still doesn't work. Gives me the same error:
"Unable to install binary for joy2key"
What do I do?

Again my only real aim is to update Atari800 from 4.0.0 to latest of 4.2.0
-
To do that I have to "update Retro-Pie Setup script"
-
But when I "update Retro-Pie Setup script" I mess up my joy2key**

You're running on an unsupported version and unfortunately the new
joy2key
package doesn't work on it.
You may get around it by using an older version of RetroPie-Setup (4.7.17
doesn't have the newjoy2key
or maybe an earlier version), but there's no guarantee that installing the new emulator version will work - your OS may not be supported by the emulator or the required dependencies may not install. -

Can you please tell me if I can do just this:I only want to upgrade my Atari800 emulator from version 4.0.0 to current version 4.2.0
- Is there any way to do it without doing an update of Retro-Pie Setup script?
I'm perfectly content to remain on RetroPie v4.5 if I can only update my Atari800 emulator somehow.
I can't update the Retro-Pie Setup script or else I mess up Joy2Key.If I do update the Retro-Pie Setup script, I definately can upgrade Atari800 emulator from 4.0.0 to 4.2.0 - I have tried it and it does work. But my Joy2key get's messed up.
So is there any other way to upgrade only the Atari800 emulator without having to upgrade the entire Retro-Pie Setup Script? It's too much time and hassle to have to install a new RetroPie image, then transfer all my ROMs and BIOS' and configure everything. And I have everything setup so sweet right now with game images/videos previewing each game on so many different systems.
With work and family, I don't think I can devote the time to customize a new image of RetroPie :(

The 4.2.0 version is related to the the setup script version - the 4.2.0 version for the Atari800 emulator was added in version 4.6 so you'll need to update to at least that version to be able to install 4.2.0 using the RetroPie-Setup script.
You can manually change the scriptmodule and modify the version, then install the emulator from source, but as I said, there's no guarantee it would work.
