Dolphin Emulator (Pi Edition)
-
My idea is to run Dolphin Emulator on the raspberry pi with box86. I would like help, please.
-
@dktpi Is there a Pi out there today that's beefy enough to make Dolphin play well? I doubt it, but maybe I'm not "in the know".
-
@dktpi The pi is too slow for gc/wii. There's plenty of other alternatives to play the games at full speed.

Here's a few pages about getting the GameCube on the pi and what performance people got.
Not sure if it will help you or not

@dktpi what? Why? ^^ so emulation with extra steps? xD
for an emulation within an emulation, the Pi really didn't have the performance for.but i tried to compile the lr-dolphin branch on the pi. Had to change some compiler macros to use the arm port of dolphin. but atm i just get an segfault.
and yes i know that maybe the lr-dolphin has some disadvantages in case of performance, but we will get rid of the x11 and desktop dependecies this way.and before i hear some "it hasn't enough power" i don't care :D i just wanted to have a running port for fun ^^' if it works, maybe for some games it will enough power :D
but to investigate where the segfault is sourced, i need knowledge on debug c++ binaries. and thats atm not in my knowledge range (so help would be nice :D )
i can code c/c++ but's not my native language XD

@lodur maybe there are some mistakes from me, by setting the cpu-flags manually? 🤔
But not all HWCAP-Constants are defined on the raspi arch headers :/
also as you can see, i have made vulkan optional. the current delivered vulkan driver within raspi os will not compile with dolphin ^^'

@lodur
lr-dolphin
will build if you use retropie on 64bit bullseye lite without vulkan. Change the sdl2 installer to 2.0.20 or nothing will build. You might need to alter the emulationstation installer too..I don't remember.
I only tried one game and it was unplayable. Have fun. -
@dktpi I have experimented with dolphin on the pi4. Mario kart double dash was almost playable with an over clock. However it did have some issues with graphics. From what I have read Dolphin does not completely support arm processors yet. You can try though.
