lr-atari800 emulator help with virtual keyboard

Hello, When launching a game using the default lr_atari800 emulator, I'm able to bring up the virtual keyboard with L3 on my PlayStation controller after setting the control map to "Atari joystick"
I can navigate the entire keyboard, but no button whatsoever executes the selected key. Is there anything I can do?
EDIT: I updated the emulator through the update main packages option and it fixed the issue. Now it his X button to execute the command
