N64, Raspberry 4 and a good case...

I'm considering buying a Raspberry 4 after all, because the emulation of the N64 on the RP 3 leaves a lot to be desired. I've read in various places that the 4's are more suitable for retro gaming than the 400's due to the cooling situation. Do you think that a standard case with passive cooling is sufficient or should I take one with a fan? The RAM size shouldn't make any difference for an emulation of the N64, should it?

@10vorne RAM-Size does not have any effect on the performance of N64-emulation (or other cores), that is right.
My 5 Cents: N64 emulation on a Pi4 is much better than on a Pi3 , yes.
But it is still not as good as on a PC (i.e. with Project64) and of course not comparable with a real N64.
I cant give you fps or other parameters, i say that as a gamer that just compares what he sees on the display and how things work.And if you have a look at the current prices for Pi4s...maybe a cheap, even older, PC is a better choice when it is all about N64.

I have a Rpi4 with Argon Neo metal case (passive cooling) and i never had an overheating so far, even with the most demanding emulator (Yabashansiro). I don't use shaders or overclocking that increase signifally the temperature.
I had and a Pi400, temperatures here are lower with the same conditions.
