double dragon mame rom slow
-
anyone have any idea if overclocking pi3 will increase double dragon slowness? i know the original game was slow when there was a lot of action on the screen and emulating tries to reflect original gaming experiences, but i've searched around and found with older mame emulators, my search hits were back in 2005 and 2009, that you could overcome this slowness with setting for overclocking in mame settings in tab setup menu. i have seen articles on overclocking the pi3, i just wondering has anyone gotten double dragon 1 , to run smoothly with the emulators in retropie and if i should bother overclocking? other games run fine it's just the original slowness of DD that i am trying to resolve.

I was about to post something similar. My son and I were playing ddragon today on lr-mame2003 Pi3 4.0.3 and it was not great. Going from really sluggish to suddenly really fast, so I'd also like to know.
I also got to the last boss in Metal Slug 3 and it was also really sluggish, but choppy audio too. My Pi was throttling, but after adding a fan too it, it seemed OK, but just couldn't handle the game. N.B. I do have Floobs overlay pack running, which I need to test disabled

emulation emulates the original systems, so if it slows-down, so will the emulated version. it won't matter how much you're overclocked your pi's CPU (unless you're overclocked so much your system is temperature throttling).
some emulators have the ability to overclock the emulated CPU. for arcade games, the only one i'm area of is lr-fba-next, which has the ability to overclock the emulated CPU for neogeo games only. it's a core option.
you can't overclock the emulated CPU in mame2003.

The slow down yes, is part of the game, but I don't remember it speeding up suddenly. Could be wrong, it's been a while

I remember running into this issue with Double Dragon. It was so long ago, I forgot what I ended up settling with. I know there is a Neo Geo version and I know there are other emulators that may play it better. You may just have to get some different rom versions and toy around with it.
