Is it possible to Dual-Boot/Multi-Boot RetroPie 4.7.1 and then update to 4.8 through WiFi on the RetroPie OS?

I want to have both RetroPie 4.8 and Raspberry OS ready to boot, but the only version on PINN (website for dualbooting/multibooting through BerryBoot) is 4.7.1.

RetroPie is not an OS. RetroPie is a collection of shell scripts to assist with downloading, installing, and configuring various emulator and front-end softwares on (nearly) any Linux computer running a Debian-based distro and, more generally, the collection of softwares installed by those shell scripts when considered as a whole.
The downloadable preconfigured Raspberry Pi images distributed by The RetroPie Project already are built on top of Raspberry Pi OS Lite, which is just the regular RPiOS without the LXDE/PIXEL desktop environment.
What do you actually want? You can add the desktop to an existing build using the instructions at https://retropie.org.uk/docs/FAQ/#where-did-the-desktop-go
If you just want to boot to console without installing the desktop environment (or want to change the boot method, after installing it or not), use RetroPie-Setup > Configuration/tools > autostart and select your preferred boot behavior; see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/FAQ/#how-do-i-boot-to-the-desktop-or-kodi

RetroPie
BerryBoot has the ability to boot multiple images. I don't want to use my Raspberry Pi 4 only for RetroPie. I want to use it for RetroPie, as well as another OS, something like Linux or Raspberry OS, so I can browse too!

something like Linux or Raspberry OS
At the risk of repeating myself: the downloadable preconfigured Raspberry Pi images distributed by The RetroPie Project already are Raspberry Pi OS (specifically, this one, Raspberry Pi OS Lite (Legacy)), which already is Linux (specifically, Debian 10 armhf Linux).
so I can browse too!
It sounds like what you actually want is a graphical desktop environment. That's called PIXEL/LXDE and it can be added to the "lite" OS that RetroPie uses in just a few clicks. See my first post.

I have update a system from RetroPie 4.7.1 to 4.8 without issue. Better configure the system after the update to 4.8.
