      Pi Model : 3
      Power Supply used: official raspberry
RetroPie Version Used (eg 3.6, 3.8.1, 4.1 - do not write latest): 4.8
      Built From: Raspberry pi imager
USB Devices connected: external HDDdrive , keyboard
      Controller used: keyboard
Error messages received: failed to add service - already in use?
      Emulator: scummvm
How to replicate the problem: 90% of games are working in scummvm, when executing dreaweb, beavis and butthead or urban runner got an error: failed to add service -already in use?

Some games need OpenGL to work and scummvm tries to change the graphics renderer, but fails. Looks to be a bug that started to manifest with version 2.5.x (which is what RetroPie ships basically), when the graphics code around OpenGL was changed in scummvm. Not sure if the bug is in the emulator or in the GPU drivers, but certainly affects the 3D games in scummvm - like Grim Fandango/Myst and probably the ones you've stumbled upon.

@mitu ok but then, is it possible to update a single emu (scummvm in this case) in the already installed retropie?

Yes, but the latest version has the same issue you've encountered, so updating it wouldn't help.

@mitu ok but i could downgrade to 2.4.0.. those games has been supported from scummvm 1.x. Do you think that could work? (those are not 3d games actually)

Yes, dreamweb game don't run with the first try. You have to open scummvm menu, add the game from here and then change the Graphics mode to OpenGL. After that is working without issues. You have to do the same for ResidualVM games, with the exception of Myst III that run very slow in RPi3.

My English isn't at a good level.

@diegomaradona21 you're right, it's not the same issue - but close. As @windg suggested, you can either override the game's config and set the Graphics mode to OpenGL or set globally the Graphics mode to OpenGL for all games. Use the +Start ScummVM entry in the scummvm system to access the global options.
