Is there a retropie theme with a tile grid layout similar to 'ckau-book' theme?
-
I really like grid layout of the Batocera-based EmulationStation theme named 'ckau-book' (see https://github.com/CkauNui/ckau-book).
There is a way to set the layout for each system to be a grid of game tiles. These tiles are made up of a screenshot with a logo (or marquee overlay). When highlighted/selected a short video of gameplay is looped.
I was wondering if there are any retropie themes that have this full screen grid tile layout for game selection?
If not, does anybody know what it would take to get the current 'ckau-book' theme to work with retropie? I am assuming it is possible since they both have EmulationStation under the hood (even though retropie is a forked version).
Any thoughts or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Have you tried the default (Carbon) theme grid style layout ? Looks similar to the grid screenshot in that theme.

@mitu yes, I did check out the default carbon theme grid but it is not really what I'm looking for. Actually, the 'ckau-book' repo does not have a screenshot of the configuration I'm interested in.
Here's a look at the game view for mame, spy hunter is selected and currently running a video clip.
Here's a look at the system view with Atari 2600 selected:

Then the answer is no - there's no similar theme for EmulationStation in Retropie.
The game grid view looks similar to Carbon (since this theme was based on Carbon), but the system view and probably other images are a mix from other themes (ArtBook in particular). -
@CarlTheLooper I developed a new version of Epic Noir for Batocera with grid view.
I thinked about porting it to Retropie but I can't achieve all the same effects. This could be the same reason Ckau book hasn't either a version for retropie. -
@chicuelo your theme looks nice. I didn't realize there were theme effect limitations in retropie. Is this due to the fork?
-
@mitu thanks for the reply.
I guess it makes more sense for me to first try and look into solutions for getting batocera to run/function more effectively on my hardware so I can have the type of theming I'm looking for.
If that doesn't work, maybe I'll come back around to retropie and build out a theme.

@CarlTheLooper There are several differences between batocera and retropie themes, despite they both run emulationstation.
Ckau-Book for example has animations when you select a system and you can't achieve this with es for retropie. I dont know why but you can't.
