Tron on Retropie missing some sounds
-
can anyone confirm that the sounds for the light cycles and the tanks firing are working on the Tron rom in raspberry pie 3b emulation station. I’ve tried several emulators and multiple roms versions the correct ones for each emulator to no avail. most sounds work but what is tron w out the light cycles and the tank fire?!? and, I looked for samples to put in the sample folder and none of the sites have them w the others so i assume it doesn’t use samples.

That's pretty vague, old emulators are likely to suffer from the same bugs. You should be playing games in recent emulators whenever it's possible if you want to avoid bugs. If you are confused about the difference between arcade emulators, i recommend reading this.

These sounds all work in mame2003-plus. This is actually an arcade cabinet I happen to own and I have cross tested this particular game heavily. The emulation is very faithful to the original. Though due to the G07 Electrohome crt monitor which used dithering techniques, you'll want a shader if you want it to look proper, most notably on the cone colors.
sgenpt-mix.slangp looks good under dithering shaders

Out of curiosity i just tried the game on very old mame, and sound worked properly even there.
I noticed this game uses stereo sound with different sfx coming from each channel, and i think your sound setup might not be playing the right channel for some reason. -
@barbudreadmon I tried all the emulators installed fba, mame 2003, 2003 plus, 2010, 2015, 2016 all are missing the light cycle sounds and the tanks firing sounds. could some of the sounds be sending to the hdmi and some to the mini jack out of the pie?

@barbudreadmon Is there a way to check this?
Somone on fb suggested updating the mcr.c file any clue what that is? -
@nollerd2 I think @barbudreadmon is correct you're not getting stereo sound. Likely a wiring issue. Try using the auxiliary jack and some headphones to test

This is the emulation driver for this game in old mame codebase, updating it means being a programmer.
