Need help new to retropie

i got a new raspbery pi 4 model b 1gb and install retropie to sd card and install it and everything installs fines but no controller pad detected with nes controller is wired usb and keyboard. No way of getting off the screen or detecting it

Is you keyboard working ? You can configure the keyboard for navigating EmulationStation by using the same procedure as if it were a gamepad - keep a key pressed until the mapping page shows up.
What kind of NES USB controller are you using ? Any model or web page we can look up if it's compatible with Linux ? (which is what RetroPie is using underneath). -
@mitu no the keyboard isnt working nor the num loc or cap lock lights but the ports have powers.. does the keyboard have to be compatible with linux? that might be my problem the 2 keyboards i tested are window and mac compatible

@jshenk89 I don't think the keyboard is 'not compatible' with Linux, more likely the USB port (ports?) is not working correctly.

Have you considered installing a bog standard Pi OS desktop and testing peripherals on that - narrow it down to whether it's a hardware fault on your Pi?
