      OK, so I have a raspberry pi 3. It's running RetroPie 4.8. I've tried to connect a USB drive to add ROMS, but according to File Manager, it's not even there. Check my previous post for more details, but I'll try to sum it up.
      -Tried to use retropie-mount, didn't work.
      -Asked for help and tried every troubleshooting step imaginable, didn't work
      -USED A DIFFERENT USB DRIVE ENTIRELY AND REDOWNLOADED RETROPIE,

      Didn't work.
      So any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

        What kind of USB drive ? Is it a simple flash drive, or an external USB drive (SSD/SATA) ? If it's an external drive, does it have its own power source ?
        What kind of power supply are you using ?

            If it is just about adding roms and you are using a filemanager...why dont you just copy the roms to your pi without using an USB-Stick?

              @sirhenrythe5th I'd like to keep games on a seperate device, as my SD card only has 8gb.

                @Recordspinner I tried using Automount, and that didn't work.

                  Exit EmulationStation (or log in via SSH to your RetroPie system) and run

                  dmesg -w

                  then plug in the USB stick. See if you get any messages and post them here - the USB detection should be logged on to your terminal.
                  You can stop the command by pressing Ctrl+C.

                    @mitu I'll check when I get home.
                    EDIT: I just remembered. It's a micro USB cable plugged into a big charging brick with 1 outlet. It came with the Kano kit that this setup is based on.

                          So the USB drive is detected, but I'd need to see the actual messages that show up to see if the partitions are properly detected.
