Playstation 1 emulation on x86 Netbook
-
For a fun project, I have installed Retropie on a 2008 Advent 4211b running a Debian Bullseye-based distro. It is a low-end 32 bit device with 2GB RAM and an Intel Atom processor running at 1.6 GHz with 945GM integrated graphics.
I am gradually getting Retropie configured with some of my old roms. The emulators for the Sega Megadrive and 32x and NES and SNES work great out of the box but I am having trouble getting the Playstation 1 emulator up and running. I have some roms taken from actual CDs I own ( Colin McRae, FIFA 2000, Gran Turismo2) which worked on my RPi 2 install of Retropie but I can't get them to work with this Netbook install.
Is this device powerful enough to emulate a Playstation 1?
If so I would welcome any suggestions for the best emulator to use and the best BIOS to use, especially if you have been successful on a similar system. -
@smnbldwn I had an Atom based Netbook about ten tears ago. I seem to recall it struggled with anything more than MAME.
I was only using MAME, SNES and Amiga back then. I definitely remember it struggling with Turrican II on Amiga.

Which emulator are you trying to use ? What's in the runcommand log file ?

@barbudreadmon Looking at the Udoo website, this is a much more powerful device than mine with better processor, graphics and more RAM. I think this explains why I can't emulate PSOne on such an old low-end machine.
