Getting Ultrastik 360FS working
-
Hi!
Raspberry Pi 4b+ 8GB
Dual Ultimate I/O cards
2 servosticks w/8 buttons each
2 J-Stiks w/4 buttons each
Ultimarc Trackball and Ultimarc Spinner
And the bane of my existence, an Ultimarc Flightstick 360FS USB
Plus LEDspicer for RGB and rotators
mame2003-plusThe 360FS is a piece of the puzzle I just can't seem to get working right.
I'm having two main problems. I'll use After Burner (aburner) as an example
- The 360FS trigger exits the game (!)
- Although I can prove with jstest that the FS can do analog (switch it with ledspicer's
rotator
app and it reads -32768 to 32768 x and y), when I load aburner, it feels like it's in digital mode, even though I think the ledspicer rotator is supposed to be switching it to analog.
I cannot for the life of me figure out why/where the config for the trigger is exiting the emulator.
I feel very comfortable with the keyboard maps I used for the dual Ultimarc Ultimate I/O boards to get all the regular 4/8 way joysticks and buttons mapped.
The 360FS however is a USB device, and I believe it appears as a whole other Retropad.
I'd prefer if the flightstick could be configured to be the left thumb analog controller for Retropad 1 along with Player 1's joystick and buttons. But then I'm not sure exactly how button mapping should be accomplished.
I did try tabbing into the MAME config and remapping the trigger and thumb buttons there, and then aburner worked, aside from the joystick not being analog. But I couldn't find a way to save the MAME config inside the MAME menu, and when exiting the emulator and coming back in, the configs were reset.
aburner also has a throttle control, which I would be fine mapping to a couple other buttons or perhaps a joystick? not sure.
I'm also dying to get TRON working, as I set up my arcade with a spinner and the flight stick near each other for this purpose.
Thanks for any help here.

Whelp, nevermind, figured it out!
When mapping this control using Retroarch, I mapped the directions up, down, left right and used trigger and thumb buttons as A and B.
There are no other buttons on this joystick, so I could not map anything for the hotkey.
Turns out, when you play a game and hit the A button without a hotkey, it was mapped to exit the game.
I manually mapped the hotkey button in the .cfg file to a random number, and that seems to have fixed it.

@mrchips was you able to get LEDSpicer to work with the UltraStik 360?
Let me know if not :)
Also, I have a question, do you have the servostick connected to the UltraStik 360?
I will like to know if that works with the flag set!
Best
