RetroPie-BGM-Player BGM Music works in menu sound stopped working in games
-
I just installed this v.nice BGM player which works fine but when I launch a game no in-game sound.
I am using the HifiBerry-Amp Hat, RPi4. Which I DID refer to the RetroPie docs to install correctly. Sound was working fine so something installed by RetroPie-BGM-Player is locking the sound I guess?
I do not have pulseaudio installed.
Previously in alsamixer there was Master and Channels where I could change the volume. Now there is an additional "PCM" level, if I try to raise the volume on PCM the volume does actually increase until I take my finger off the volume up key and it resets to zero. So something in locking the access to PCM?My /etc/asound looks like this:
pcm.hifiberry { type softvol slave.pcm "plughw:0" control.name "PCM" control.card 0 } pcm.!default { type plug slave.pcm "hifiberry" }
Prior to install of RetroPie-BGM-Player it looked like this:
pcm.!default { type hw card 0 } ctl.!default { type hw card 0 }
Simple mixer control 'Master',0 Capabilities: volume volume-joined Playback channels: Mono Capture channels: Mono Limits: 0 - 248 Mono: 163 [66%] Simple mixer control 'PCM',0 Capabilities: volume Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right Capture channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: 0 - 255 Front Left: 0 [0%] Front Right: 0 [0%] Simple mixer control 'Channels',0 Capabilities: volume Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right Capture channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: 0 - 248 Front Left: 248 [100%] Front Right: 248 [100%]
I can confirm I do not have an .asound file in my home directory.
Any pointers, tips glaring obvious mistakes I'm making would be a massive help please.
I have always struggled getting sound working consistently on my Pi - because of me, not because of the Pi :)I know this is more a core pi configuration issue rather than RetroPie but I am stuck.

It looks like the app "audacious" is grabbing the driver and keeping it. Not idea (yet) how to configure such that it can share the driver/HW.
Audacious is the app used to play music in the BGM player. -
I gave up as I see there is no support on Github or anywhere!
Uninstall and try something else
