      I posted before but I can't find the solution. How are you guys getting HDMI audio output from this?

        Does your monitor have have built in speakers?

          It's a TV, so yes.

            Make sure the TV is on with the pi connected before you give power to the pi. That way the pi successfully queries the TV as to the modes it will accept, and then configures itself accordingly.

              Edit /boot/config.txt and set hdmi_drive=2 to force HDMI audio out

                  This always works. It's funny because I have two Sony HD TV's (both different models), on the newer model everything works fine but on the older model I always have to edit the config.txt file.
