Mame Roms

When I try to load certain MAME roms the screen goes black for a second and I am brought back to the menu this is the same for mame-libretro and mame-mame4all. I have also checked here to see if the roms are compatible
an example is I tried
gng.zip
gnga.zip
gngt.zipAll three give me the black screen and then return to the menu
this doesn't happen with all roms , the following roms work fine
1941.zip
1942b.zip
ghoulsu.zipThoughts? Solutions? Tips? Anything... Thanks in advance for your help

You need to correct romset. Just use lr-fba-next and download the recent romset which is the MAME 0.173 romset.
Not all games work for some reason but the majority works and the lr-fba-next is in my opinion the best arcade emulator, it supports and runs many games.

It's a bad, bad post i'm afraid. It will really anger those who write long documentation files that very clearly explain every nuance of detail regarding Mame in the form of a "How to use MAME Guide" that supplements the actual Wiki itself!

This is why we can't have nice things.

One thing to note many of the "Rom Site? Are miss labed and have incorrct roms
You also need the BIOS files and the correct ones in order for it to work correctly.
OP i always thought the same as you. It's %100 a bios and rom issue. From the sounds of it you don't want to take the time to build ur rom and check each rom set you are looking for the easy way out. There is no easy way out
I can't post links to sites but you might want to google MEME bios and make sure it's located in the pie's BIOS directly and remember you can leave all the roms in a .zip format just make sure your BIOS and mame rom's are the same version
When the version is correct you will be golden
Another thing if u want the easy way out use the arcade folder and the FBA folder to test different rom sets and bios
Have fun, u really need to read the FAQ and test ur files but you can go about testing back and forth with all the junk u find online
That's what I did before I sat down and test all my rom sets. After testing and ensure I had the correct roms with the right bios everything worked great -

lr-FBA-next is one of the best next to Mame2003.

@meleu Thank you sir, Does it play Ninja Baseball Batman at all? couldn't get it working with Arcade or MAME.

Huh? It's in my post man I wrote:

On the MAME/Arcade Wiki page there is a list of the MAME emu's and which romsets they need. Just download the last romset which is 0.173 and use lr-fba-next. It's like 22GB but nowadays it's normal to download files of that size, or you simply could only download only a couple games.
Download the MAME 0.173 romset and copy them to the fba rom folder. It's the easiest solution.
About which games and which don't, there is a Excel spreadsheet on the Wiki on which games work and which don't but I never rely on it, I already have the full mame set so if I want to know if it works I will test it myself.

Try to use the correct romcheck, if doesnt work, try with load the rom with fba-next, if not too, try to load with advmame (to configure your joypad press TAB), it happened to me with Night slashers (tryed 4 rom version, .78 romset and only advmame 1.4 launch the Night slashers korean 1.3v rom).
