Create individual Rompack for Mame
-
I use Retropie with a full non-merged romset for 0.139 (2010). But here are all the mahjongs and fruit machines. Light gun games, etc. in there. So I would like to create my own Rompack that removes the "useless" games. However, doing it by hand is a very time-consuming process. I saw an option on YouTube with Launchbox that does exactly what I want, but it doesn't work for an older version (like 0.139), or I can't select it. In this case, you use Launchbox for filtering and can then export a rompack with the selected games and store it in Retropie, for example.
I saw in the Launchbox forum that you could also use this approach for 0.139, but I didn't understand what I had to do to do it.
Does anyone know of another option that is similarly easy to do?

I think the 'nuclear' option with CLRMamePro can also work, but it may not be so easy as you'd expect.

@mitu I looked at Romset Manager, unfortunately it doesn't work with my Romset (the GER !-!, etc. are missing in the file name). It looks like Launchbox's import/export function best suits my previous knowledge and skills. However, this no longer works with 0.139. However, with 0.174 it would work. Is there anything wrong with using 0.174 and Retropie? I probably have to change the emulator, but otherwise everything works like with mame2010?
Can you also use Retropie with the latest version of Mame? So with the latest romset? Which emu should I use for this?

Mame and lr-mame (see the docs) installed from the experimental section. Can't speak for a Pi5, but both cores are awfully slow on a Pi4.

So that's the reason why many use the 0.139 (2010) with Retropoie? At least that's my feeling. I also have a full RomSet of 0.139, but it bothers me that there are so many duplicate entries in the game list in Retropie and also games that cannot be played due to a lack of controllers. But I haven't found a halfway good way to sort the roms, at least not without investing a lot of time into learning how to do it. But from what I hear now, it sounds like I should ignore it because the newer romsets aren't as well supported and I can be happy with the 0.139 where all games run at good speed.
