It's... in the same place? Select default emulator for <system>, or select emulator for ROM. To set the default, use the first option. To set a game-override, use the second one:

Remember <system> is whatever rom folder you are setting for, like nes or megadrive or dreamcast for example. Or, in the above screenshot it says arcade or, you are using system mame-libretro, so on your menu it will say "select default emulator for mame-libretro". Choose that.

I believe this is in the '/opt/retropie/configs/mame-libretro/emulators.cfg file.

So that's the reason why many use the 0.139 (2010) with Retropoie? At least that's my feeling. I also have a full RomSet of 0.139, but it bothers me that there are so many duplicate entries in the game list in Retropie and also games that cannot be played due to a lack of controllers. But I haven't found a halfway good way to sort the roms, at least not without investing a lot of time into learning how to do it. But from what I hear now, it sounds like I should ignore it because the newer romsets aren't as well supported and I can be happy with the 0.139 where all games run at good speed.

@drog1998 I use an Arduino Leonardo (Atmega32 chip) to connect an Amiga keyboard to my Raspberry PI. It works very well, no bug at all. I never have to unplug and replug for instance. I use it with every emulator of computers.

I use a self-powered hub to connect it to my Raspberry Pi 4 (actually, every USB thing is connected to this self-powered USB hub in my configuration).

Mame 2010 hasn't been updated in the last 2 years, so it's unlikely the binary is 'old'. If you look at the package version information option in the package details (RetroPie-Setup), you'll see when it was built and from which upstream commit. Compiling from source will get you the same version as the binary installation.

@mitu sorry topic. freudian slip.

@luckyluca It loads in mame2003plus but there's no sprites and there's slowdowns even at 2Ghz/750Mhz. Mame2010 loads to a black square but it'll probably run slower.

It's around fullspeed in lr-yabasanshiro overclocked. It has to be added manually. Search in the forum.

Another note to add

Player 2 controls seem messed up unless it's just me.

E. G. Mortal kombat 2 and 3

Player 2 controller has same config as port 1 controls minus the keyboard keys but low kick button doesn't work on player 2 joystick
(It does nothing.)

Using mame 2003 and 2003 plus with same controls all buttons work.

@zoyx Try adding video_windowed_fullscreen = "false" to /opt/Retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg. This fixed the issue for me on Ubuntu 20 on x64. You'll also want to make sure this isn't being set to true in any of your directory or game specific config files, because they will override this setting.

@mitu huh. well that's kind of dissapointing, but you're right, I can't seem to make it function smoothly on a PC even. It's odd a game from the late 90s can't function on more advanced hardware. Thanks for your help!!

@maxbeanz That's it. Thanks. I was only looking in the retroarch gui and not the mame gui. It's not fullspeed, hopefully a Pi3+ will fix that.

Had to use a image of a previous backup i made since i couldn't find out where the problem is.

The most i got was that it was something in the configs folder, don't know what.

Replying for posterity -- there needs to be a patch applied to mame2010 for high score functionality to work. There is a github issue with a link to the patch: https://github.com/libretro/mame2010-libretro/issues/11
