Hdmi banner flashes everytime I load and exit a game
-
It's a little "HDMI" input logo that pops up constantly when exiting a game,or entering. Minor, yet slightly annoying. It's one of those Phoenix arcade monitors, I'm only using the hdmi plug via pi4. I feel like there's nothing I can do about it. Unless someone out there has a simple fix. Thanks.

This looks like a message shown by the monitor, perhaps related to a video mode change. Are you changing the video mode when starting a game ?
Please add some info about your setup, as requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

It's a fresh setup on a pi4, everything is official and legit. This is my 4th retropie build and I've never run into this issue. It happens everytime I load a game and exit a game. Stumped.

@mitu I used a fresh batocera image, just to see if it behaved the same when loading and exiting mame games. It doesn't happen. I prefer retropie so much more, I wonder what setting or line I'm missing? I've looked over so many configuration files, and I'm so lost.

I don't think there's any setting here - if the message shows up on start/end of game it's from the resolution change or video mode switching related.
I'm not familiar with a 'Phoenix arcade monitor' - do you have a web page describing such monitor and what makes it so special that it shows this message ? Did you choose a different video mode for the games from the
runcommand
launch menu ?What's the output from following commands:
tvservice -m CEA tvservice -m DMT

While messing around in the retropie settings menus, I realized opening the 'retroarch' settings would trigger the hdmi logo. None of the other menus. This lead me to believe retroarch was doing something with resolutions etc. Turns out disabling the fullscreen mode stopped the annoying little hdmi banner. Confirmed by entering and exiting the retroarch settings menu from the retropie settings. But that doesn't exactly apply when I actually try using lr-mame. It forces the fullscreen, even though it was saved.
Everything was default when I started having these issues, guess I'll just try a fresh image.

@Chef-Otis said in Hdmi banner flashes everytime I load and exit a game:
It forces the fullscreen, even though it was saved.
Fullscreen is set at runtime by
runcommand
, as a an additional configuration. I guess the 'fullscreen' video mode may be different than the 'current' video mode (even if 'current' video mode may have an identical resolution) - that's the reason I asked for the results of thetvservice
commands, which should display all video modes reported by the monitor.
