Pi 4 Model B. Should I emulate PS1 games via lr-pcsx_rearmed (PSX) or use psx2psp to convert them, then emulate with ppsspp (PSP)? I'm getting started with Final Fantasy VII, if it matters. Thanks a lot.

No, use a PS1 emulator.
