      Btw :
Are you up to date so you can run mame 265 ?

No, I didn't download it from the source. I'm waiting for the precompiled one.

I have added standalone mame version detection 265.17.
So the database will be more in sync with mame.

Can you both test it and let me know if you find this an improvement.

@Folly A question: I tried to use the mame for the Philips CD-i and also for the FM Towns, and I saw that I have to pass the .cue file to it first (even if the size is 0 bytes I saw that it works), but not Is it possible to use the mame directly with .chd files without necessarily having to use the name of the "rom" (8 digits) in .cue format?

Have you installed it with my script ?

If you have a good mame binary running, that doesn't have the CHD issue, then you can load that CHD or even .CUE directly with the use of the media option.
My script creates these runcommands too using the media option -cdrm.
            That should work.

@Folly You're right, I was using the old script, now that I have installed the mamedev.sh it works perfectly even launching the .chd file directly. Thank you!

The new script is easier to use and is really intuitive, I added the new machine in a second!

                    Thanks for the feedback.
Good to hear that you find it intuitive, that is one of my main goals.
A guide should not be necessary.

Hi @Folly. Correct me if I'm wrong but won't it not work for me unless I update my overall OS? I thought 265 was the crossover point.

It's an update that you still can use older mame versions.
The script will check what version you have and will enable that database if present.
If not you have to pick a close database version.
That version is shown in the right corner.
Then the script will only show and install drivers that were on that version of mame.

Do you understand it now ?

                        Edit :
Earlier on you were able to switch between databases manually.
So you had to know what version you were running and switch it by yourself.
                        That is still possible though.

Only if you want to use the newer mame 265 version.

                          Edit :
The newer script will still work on older OSes but newer mame versions will not.

                              Yes I saw, nice !
Have build my first x86_64 binary.
Computer is now busy with creating the inis.
Would like to be completely independent from progettosnaps in the future but that is probably too much work.

                              Ps.
Have you had the chance to look at the script updates or is it too much for you ?

Is it a typo or is 255 correct.
255 is quite old or was it a test on your side to test the script.

Which games do not work ?

(MAME file names) diamond and hemic. All gameking3 games working well excepted those 2 new games

Problem with CDI, All CD systems work excepted CDI. Maybe it's on my side for that one.

For CDI and GAMEKING3, i used your script.

It's likely due to the version/binary of mame you use.

I stopped updating the database ini files for 266 and decided that I will skip this version update.
It might be that I will also skip several more version updates that will save me a lot of time.

Seems to me that a large number of users cannot or will not play with mame 265 or higher yet as most are still using older OSes and the users of PI5's seem also limited.
Therefor it makes no real sense to do the version updates.

If someone thinks differently about it then let me know and I can reconsider.
