My controller and keyboard were working when I first downloaded retro pi and set it up.
But when I turned my pi off and on again my controller and keyboard did not work even thought they were connected. By the way I am using a xbox one controller connected by a usb cable and a wireless keyboard.

I used pi model 3 b and everything works but when I go on the menu screen it won't let me do anything on it even though my keyboard and controller are connected

It's really like the ports aren't working because the pi is not reading that they are connected to it

What power supply are you using (what are the output specs on it ? - eg 5v Xamps)

Please also read the link again - you should provide more than just which raspberry pi model. eg retropie version etc.

Could the problem be that I pulled the plug on the pi to shut it down.

It would be wise to include information in the post as well as using tags - eg copying the template from the read me first topic, and filling out the details.

Did you initially configure the keyboard or controller on Emulation Station ? you mentioned Ports - is it a particular game not working, or are you unable to navigate at all in the menu ?

You can try a fresh image also, in case it is related to some sdcard corruption. Might be easier than trying to debug this.
