*SIGH* 64GB Epic Failure
-
So I have a 64GB Sandisk Ultra and I was able to format it effectively to exFAT then convert it to FAT32 fine, showed up as like 59GB. Problem is once I install the .img file it now says 36.8MB free of 56.8 MB. I had a similar issue when trying to do RecalBox, was able to format the 64GB fine, convert to FAT32, but once the OS installed it f'd up the space. Is there a workaround for this, or do I instead need to settle with a 32GB card?

@Nazgul boot up the pi, go to the terminal and type, "sudo raspi-config" and select expand filesystem
-
@Nazgul are you looking at the free space on windows or on the pi itself? Windows cant see linux partitions: https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/First-Installation#install-retropie-image-on-sd-card
-
@Nazgul as herb said windows cant see linux partition. And the windows format cant format it back either. I use a free program called "EaseUs partition master" to format back to a windows fat partition
-
@edmaul69 sd formatter also works quite well
-
So if I have a 64GB card, can I leave it as exFAT or do I need to use guiformatter to format it to FAT32? If I need to, what option should I pick for the Allocation format in guiformatter?
-
@rashil you don't need to format it as fat32. So long as the tool you are using to write the image can see it. It's fine. The image itself contains the partitions and filesystems.
