      Hello,

Whenever I try to install retropie with rpi imager (even on brand new sandisk 32 gb) I get the error "Verifying write failed. the contest of the image has changed." This is happening on both Windows 10 and macOS 14. The next thing I will do is replace the USB SD card reader. Perhaps it is defective.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve/troubleshoot this?

I have seen this issue sometimes, not only with RetroPie but with other operating systems as well. I don't know the cause. After I choose to reinstall the OS, it works. A bad card reader or a faulty SD card, I believe, can cause a similar issue.

Make sure that you have the latest version of PI imager You can install also the RetroPie over the Network: https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentation/computers/getting-started.html#install-over-the-network

@sugarfree said in Verifying write failed using Rpi Imager:

          bad card reader

In my case a faulty card reader.
