Is it possible to update RetroPie 1 for Raspberry Pi Zero on a Raspberry Pi2?
-
I have both a Raspberry Pi 2 and a Raspberry Pi Zero.
Updating the RPi2 is a piece of cake, but the Zero takes hours to download and compile (I'm using the g_ether module and internet sharing).
Is it even possible to use a RetroPie 1 image on a RPi2? If so, can I update the system on the RPi2 and then transfer the SD card to the Zero?
Thanks :) -
@a_netanel why are you compiling btw?

I'm not sure what you're compiling, but I've wondered what the difference is between the Pi2/3 image and the Pi1/0 image. Are different things included or are there just different optimizations?

For some reason, selecting "update all installed packages" installs the retroarch cores from source. The lr-fbalpha takes hours to compile.
In the meantime I tried to use the rpi2 to update the retrofit 1 image, but when I popped the card in the Zero, emulationstation wouldn't start..
Finally I was able to update on the Zero by using the "manage packages" option, and selecting to update from binaries. Although the retropie version did not change until I also selected to update the setup script.
Maybe (probably) I'm doing it all wrong.. but for now, at least the version is 4.0.4,which supports individual loading splash screens. Which is all I really wanted 😀
