Runcommand System Splashscreens!

@backstander I don't have talent with graphics software. I'm already very happy with what Master Rookervik made for us. :-)
-
@meleu Aww man, now people want individual port splash screens? Hahaha, like this?
I've already made images for all the ports. I don't think they were ever added to the distro like the RetroPie menu was. I even made a gamelist for them with images that can be linked in the roms folder.
-
@Rookervik that is awesome!
-
@Rookervik oh man! How can I sleep knowing I have such big debt with you?!
I'm very very grateful. The Cave Story image is awesome!
-
Need some brave person to go get me the exact directory names for every port RetroPie has. Adventure Game Studio, LinCity, Warcraft, ev-a-ree-thang. :P
Got these so far, but I don't know if the directory structure is correct.
-
If you want to try these out and see if the folder names are correct... or try changing folder names until they work... download this. Once I have all the correct folder names, I can add it all to the same big fat download.
I just used the Ports images I created some months ago. Around the same time we updated the RetroPie menu with icons. Used 8-bit PNG to save space and fit with the whole Pixel theme.

@Rookervik The ports I have here are all at
/opt/retropie/configs/ports/
. Like this:$ ls -l /opt/retropie/configs/ports/ total 28 drwxr-xr-x 3 pi pi 4096 Out 6 14:23 cavestory drwxr-xr-x 2 pi pi 4096 Out 2 07:07 doom drwxr-xr-x 2 pi pi 4096 Out 1 17:33 duke3d -rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 2193 Out 13 02:27 launching.png drwxr-xr-x 2 pi pi 4096 Out 2 07:08 quake drwxr-xr-x 2 pi pi 4096 Out 1 17:34 quake3 drwxr-xr-x 2 pi pi 4096 Out 2 07:09 smw
BUT I'm not sure if every port is a subdirectory of
.../configs/ports
.Keep in mind that currently to get the launching image shown for ports it needs a workaround, like @Colossus did above. So my suggestion is to name the images with the name of the port and put them in only one directory (let's say
ports/launching-images/
), and then the user rename the files he/she wants. -
@meleu Yeah, I referenced the ports section of the wiki to get the directory names I could find. Some seem wrong? Like CaveStory should be cavestory (makes a difference, stupid linux) And some like Minecraft and such are not even in the ports folder. Perhaps if this is popular, we can work on a workaround or something. But at least there are the pictures for people to use if they want. :D
-
Yeah...the Minecraft thing was kinda my fault, as I changed the module so that it installs the version from the Raspbian repositories (a.k.a. the packaged version)... Sorry about that.
-
@Rookervik Hi again... Um... would you please please make a runcommand splashscreen for Sega-Mega-CD?
-
I have modified runcommand so it will look in
/opt/retropie/configs/ports/NAME/
, then/opt/retropie/configs/ports/
for a ports launching image so you can have a single launching image or have one per port if you really want. -
@BuZz Great, thank you!

@BuZz I'm already planning the party. I bring the cake you bring the beer
I have been thinking of an international IRL meetup for some time now...
-
@BuZz Awesome!
-
@Zigurana I think a skype meetup would be more possible.
-
@lilbud I always try to aim high, as to leave some room to fall short... :-)

@Rion Runcommand splash screens are not attached to any one theme. It doesn't matter what theme you are using when you install these splash screens. These are pixel-based... so will look best with any of the pixel themes.
