Hello, I just wanted to share something I noticed when playing Super Mario Bros. 3. When the level scrolls as I am moving, the leading edge of the picture gets odd green color and flickering. Anyone else notice? Is this a setting I can change? Is this not fixable? Or worse, am I nuts?

@GreenHawk84 i think that's just how the nes/SMB3 worked. it's actually kinda interesting (to me!) see http://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.php?p=79590

Totally normal, and as I understand it that part of the screen was usually hidden on CRT TV's so you never saw it back in the day (although on some newer CRT TV's, made WAY after the original Nintendo stopped being sold, I've seen some of those weird edge artifacts as well).

Its a dangerous bug and your TV set is going to explode in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1...!!! Nah just kidding, nothing to worry about that is how many NES games are for some reason.

Thanks all for the clarification. I had a feeling it was similar to Sega Genesis border colors and artifacts in areas not generally seen on older displays.
