@pc4life0427 if those zips are for consoles you need to unzip them. Also, since you can see the pi on your desktop, just drag and drop the Roms using the network share.
-
Didn't add another pic.. but they are all unzipped now.. they are all exe files.. I was playing them..
-
@pc4life0427 exe files are not supported ROM files mate. Read the Wiki for each console for what extension is supported and find some new ROMs from somewhere else.
-
@pc4life0427 can you give an example of the .exe file? This is an executable! Never seen one in any rom package. Sounds suspicious like a virus.

@rbaker sorry was out drinking..I live in Japan...here are the pictures...

You guys are worse than the Irish with their sushi. Have you tried what @rbaker suggested by adding the roms to your device via the RetroPie network share available in the OSX Finder? An alternative would be to use FTP or SFTP/SSH as well.

@mediamogul I want to add roms that way...right now all I have is Mac Blutooth keyboards in my house...when I try to setup...it tells me to enter a password for it? I want to enable wifi and bluetooth on the pi...but I guess I need a wired keyboard first to setup everything...I need to head to a reycle shop...

Yeah, that's a pain. You may be able to pair the keyboard at that point by typing "0000" while it's in discovery mode. You're heading in a good direction though. Having a keyboard option of some kind is a big help, if for no other reason than maintenance.
-
@mediamogul Yeah I think I will have to buy one....
-
Ok I hope this is an easy one to answer before I finish this post.....I got everything to work...Redid everything from the beginning...Fresh installs...
I know have SNES...NES....Playstation...Sega...so I am trying to install MAME....now here is the Question.......
If what I try does not work and doesn't get installed on the pie....do the files from the USB drive get installed on the SD card?? I have tried other ones to that did not work....I have a 32G but do not want to fill the damn thing....
IF so....how can I remove??
Thanks
-
@pc4life0427 I'm pretty sure MAME is already installed - are you installing an experimental version?
-
@rbaker no.. I went to the wiki page..
https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/MAME
Downloaded the bios as a zip.. unzipped and them got some roms..
That is what I did for Sega and PlayStation and it worked fine..
I am not sure.. that is why I was confused about it..

Well for MAME, which is not an emulation of a console, nothing is ever unzipped.
That is what I did for Sega and PlayStation and it worked fine..
It doesn't mean that it will work for MAME. It's like saying I followed the instructions on how to use the Dreamcast emulator but this doesn't work for the Amiga emulator, why?...... What version of MAME are you using? Where are you placing the files?
got some roms
What roms? There are many different MAME rom sets. You should read through this before proceeding:

@rbaker I tried Mame4all is what I tried first..
Tried a few different sites for roms to make sure it was not the roms..
I will try a few more.. unless you recommend one?
