Hi i am wondering how many controllers can the RetroPie handle up to because i have a lot of 3-4 player games that i would like to play with my friends but every video and posting online i have seen only shows "how to configure second controller" and would just like to know if i can add in 3+ more controllers into this.

I've had 4 running with no problem. All different types. Sometimes all hard wired, sometimes hardwired with some wireless thrown in. Only problem is finding out (and fighting over) who's player 1, player 2, etc. (especially in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles -or "Hero Turtles" for you lame brits ;) where each player is stuck with their assigned ninja turtle.
