Fairly self-explanatory. There are a couple open source emulators for this, and they would add a ton nice arcade games that are not emulated under MAME or FBA.
The Pi should also be totally capable of handling them using HLE.

For a small list of the stuff I'm talking about:

      Dead or Alive 1
      Daytona USA
      Gunblade
      Fighting Vipers
      Last Bronx
House of the Dead (Saturn port is not supported by Saturn emu)
      Sega Water Ski
      Virtua Cop 1 & 2
      Virtua Striker 1
      Virtua Fighter 1
      Virtual on
      WaveRunner
      Zero Gunner

These are a bunch of classics.

There are a couple of emus already out there, but the main one AFAIK is in http://nebula.emulatronia.com/

      Anyone else thought of this?

        looks like it's direct3d.

you'd need to find an opengl one, open source, that runs on linux and ARM. i'm not aware of any.

Several of these are also light gun arcade games, right? Lightgun games aren't supported, sadly, although i'm hopeful they will be some day soon with USB light guns (with sensor bar) like the EMS TopGun III and similar.

lightgun games aren't supported by what? there's certainly lightgun hardware available that is compatible with the pi (aimtrak etc). but none of this matters if the emulators aren't compatible with the pi.

Lightgun games aren't supported by anything on the Pi that I know of – any platform/emulator/whatever. Weren't you posting in this topic where people were again trying to get any sort of lightgun to work to no avail...? if something has changed since then PLEASE let me know... I'm (slowly) collecting the parts to build a softmodded Xbox (i.e. PC based) arcade system specifically to play lightgun games on...would love to be able to do it from the Pi instead.

@Dochartaigh that topic was about mame2003 (although probably a libretro/RA issue) only. there are plenty of examples of pi + light gun. e.g. advmame http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=150309.0

Hmm. Thanks for the tip. I'll do some more research (I don't trust a single post as being evidence - need more before I drop $95 on a lightgun... ;). Think AdvanceMame 1.4 (the pi 3 can use) is MAME 0.106 - I'll have to see if that's new enough for the light gun games I've been dying to play.

                    (thread hi-jack over - sorry!)

                      Hi!

Sadly no AM2 emulator for arm exist right now... Our Best shot is reicast :/
Some people tried to run segamodel3 on pi2/3, but it ended in just a proof of concept, it run but at no more than 3-4 fps :)
                      Here the post related :

Segamodel2, if memory serve me right, run on Linux only throught wine so on a pi... Don't expect to much of anything!

                        Thanks for your reply, Thak!

If I were to try lightgun solutions on the Pi, I'd use a Wiimote + gunmod + this:
                        https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-W010-Wireless-Sensor-DolphinBar/dp/B00HZWEB74

Then again... We might try House of the Dead 1 and 2, Daytona, Virtua On and many others via the emulation of their (lower quality) PC ports.
