PS3 Clone Wired Support
-
Hey there! First post here. I'm running Retropie 3.6 in a Pi 2, and I'm going nuts over something that 's fairly simple. :/
In 2.6 I used to plug in an arcade-like PS3 wired controller, and it ran just fine. EmulationStation picked it up right away. But now, since 3.0, no matter what I try, it won't read it. Tried it in 3.6, too.
The controller shows in lsusb as "Sony Corp. Batoh Device/ Playstation 3 Controller". So it IS seen. It works under Windows. It is not a hardware issue. And it's not a power issue, since RetroPie 2.6 picked it up and I used to play with it.
But now, it never shows in dev/input. Plugging/Unplugging makes no difference there, but it does in lsusb.
I am going nuts because it used to work before! What can I do? I've tried installing all PS3 Joystick Types, all Bluetooth devices, XBox Devices... Yet this simple, wired controller still doesn't work
Any help will be appreciated!

Please update the RetroPie-Setup script, and re-install emulationstation from binary from RetroPie-Setup menu 5 (this should trigger a new SDL2 to be installed which may solve the problem)

Actually if it was a problem in 3.0 it might be something else.
I will need the output of the command
dmesg
(after trying to use the joypad). Please use a site like pastebin.com and link it rather than pasting it directly to the forum. -
Hey there!
Thanks a lot for the reply.
This is dmesg before plugging in:

Looks like a kernel issue - I found some references - perhaps caused by this change (Which may have fixed some sticks but broken yours)
https://lkml.org/lkml/2015/2/16/369
Unfortunately this is not something we are able to fix - but you could report the issue upstream https://bugzilla.kernel.org/
-
You may need to post this first against the Raspberry Pi Linux issue tracker https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux (They may direct you to post it upstream also) as the Kernel bugtracker says it isn't for use for distribution kernels.
To be honest - it would just be simpler to get another controller.

Yikes. Oki dokie. Thanks for your reply!
I hardly used it... Gonna posta it for sale. T_T

Well, I've actually tried selling it to no avail.
To top it off, getting another arcade-like controller is financially impossible for me rite now. :(
Is there no other option to make this work? Maybe a mod? Maybe gutting a regular USB controller?
