@Thiago1101 Wow, they are all cool! Would it be possible to download these from you?
-
@Thiago1101 So these basically appear instead of the Emulation Station loading screen on boot up? How would I go about adding one? My ES takes a bit to load as I have so many scraped systems.
-
These will appear before the ES loading screen, This video plays. Once done, it launches emulationstation. It could skip ES if said video is long enough. For ES will load in the background.
-
Great work. The shorter intro (without game footage) remind me of how most consoles boot up.
General question with these videos - if Emulationstation is loading in the background while these are played...does it wait for the video to come to an end before it shows the selection menu or will it interrupt and stop the video if it has everything loaded and ready to go?
-
@batman It will wait until the video play. If Emulation Station is still loading, it will show the emulation station logo. Otherwise, if Emulation Station are already done, just after the video it will show the selection menu.
@SteffenMB I've just updated the posts with the download links. Enjoy.
Thank you all for the feedback

@Thiago1101 Good to know that it works that way and by ending some of your videos with the ES loading screen means that you have a seamless intro if your setup is taking longer to load then the video. Very clever.
-
@Thiago1101 Thanks! It's asking for a 'decryption key' though, and says that if I don't have it, I should contact the creator of the link.
-
@SteffenMB Links fixed

@Thiago1101 Thank you.
By the way, just a quick tip for everybody if you can't get a video to work: don't have any space in the file name.
For instance I installed the "retropie short.mp4" and it wouldn't play from startup. But I then renamed it "retropieshort.mp4" removing the space between 'retropie' and 'short', and then it worked :-)
-
@Thiago1101 could you please make another "retropie intro.mp4" , long version but using carbon retropie splashscreen on first logo and a dark emulationstation boot screen?

This is so cool! Just changed to a video splash. But the volume of it is so loud! Even though the menu and games SFX are normal levels. Any way to change this, or do I have to edit the video myself and lower the volume like that?

you can edit with
sudo nano /etc/init.d/asplashscreen
and find the omxplayer line and add--vol n
/--amp n
parameters. note any changes to this file will get overwritten on updating.man omxplayer
from terminal for help on options -
Also animated a little video splash screen with the lovely PS1 boot sound :D
-
Nice. I'm digging the VHS vibe.

What is the music of the first video?
-
@Thiago1101 cool. Can you rename the title so people know what it is and can find it if they do a search for it?
