Kid/Kiosk Edition crashes on start with 4.1

Really interested in the Kiosk mode of the experimental kid/kiosk edition of ES. I've seen a few videos of it working on some older versions but just tried installing it on 4.1 and it fails after it shows the ES logo. The error is:

lvl0: Tried to use unset setting ShowHidden!

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::out_of_range'
   what():  map::at
Aborted

Additionally, it breaks the keyboard driver at the command prompt so I can't even type anything after that. Anyone have any ideas?

I see other people had a similar error trying to install LXDE but I'm not doing that. This is stock 4.1 image with the kid mode download only.

Ok turns out it is because I was using a subfolder in my roms/nes folder and it doesn't like that
Removed and it is fine now

This fixed my crash as well.
Debug mode didn't help with finding a solution.

lvl3:   FileData::getFilesRecursive():returning 17 games
lvl3:   FileData::getChildren(1)
