i am getting an "oops: not enough memory, exiting." error at bottom left of screen.

@tendo_nerd12 which emulationstation theme ? what gpu split do you have (please post contents of
/boot/config.txt
- formatting it in a code block or using an external pastebin site) -
@BuZz hi, i download pi 0/1. the GPU split was set at 216 so I moved it up to the max, i believe was 512. i am not getting any long lines of code during the bootup process. just 1 raspberry the 2 quick lines then a black screen for a minute then the error. looking back the instructions i followed indicated unplugging the power. i think that was a bad idea. you think its possible my files or the sd were possibly corrupted? i appreciate any feedback and i thank you for taking your time to help.
-
@tendo_nerd12 That split is giving all of the available ram to the GPU so is probably the cause of the no memory error. I'd reduce this to 384 or 256 if I were you and see how it performs then.
-
As the Zero has only 512MB of ram, you shouldn't allocate more than 256MB to the gpu really - and you shouldn't need to either. Put the sdcard in a PC and edit it back and see if it boots.
-
@tendo_nerd12 It would have been useful to mention you messed with the memory setting when you originally posted - I mean you are posting about an "Out of memory" issue, and have change the memory allocation configuration. Sounds related no ? :)
-
@BuZz @marky444 lol thanks, guys. I guess I just followed a bad instructions guide. I will clear out my sd and restart the process. thanks again for your time, I really appreciate it.
-
@tendo_nerd12 that memory split is for the pi2/3.
-
@edmaul69 ah I see. thanks ed. I will look for the correct one.
-
@tendo_nerd12 both myself and @BuZz have already given you the split for the zero. That Pi only has a total of 512mb ram, so 256 is your split.
-
the amount of misinformation about the memory split is unreal. if emulationstation loads you have enough.
