Psu enough? Rpi 3
-
Hey guys
I was reading online that the pi needs a 2.5amp well i was looking at mine i recieved with a kit mines a 5v 2amp i looked online at the specs and it said at max current 2amp it will be like 5.1-5.2v
Mainly use the pi for older emulators like snes sega nes i do have a 30mm small fan hooked up to gpio im not seeing the rainbow square so i should be alright i assume? -
@RetroFreak89 should be fine unless you have a lot of peripherals etc.

I've seen people reporting issues with sound on fbalpha when using a psu below 2,5a.

I really don't understand this. The RPi Foundation recommend a 5V 2.5A PSU for the Pi 3 yet companies continue to sell kits with 2A and below PSU's with the Pi 3... Seems like they are just dumping excess old inventory on their customers. Capitalism, eh? I would advise you to complain to the seller.

@columboscoat agreed. I would add, although I said above it should be fine (if it can do 2amps and keep voltage at 5.1v), I would still recommend a stronger PSU since you will probably be wanting to use controllers and other devices that require power.
