      Hello there,

I am a total beginner on the Raspberry Pi and all its components.
Nevertheless, I am aiming high and planing to build an arcade machine.

My Raspberry is a Modell 1.
The Operating System was installed using the "retropie-4.0.2-rpi1_zero"-Image.
      I am using a USB-based Arcade-Joystick Controller.

After booting RetroPie, everything seems o.k.
"Emulation Station" is starting automatically and the Controller is being detected.
In the next step, I can configure every Joystick movement and every button on my Controller.
      Everything is working just fine.
There is a Message at the RetroPie Startscreen, telling me: "13 Games installed"
The Menu on the bottom left corner of the Screen tells me to choose using "<" and ">"
(The < and > are "left" and "right" at my Joystick)

But: No matter what I do - nothing is happening.

Button "A", "B", "Select", "Start" (...) are working perfect.
I tried a Playstation3 Controller as well - exactly the same Problem - everything fine - but I can not "chose"

I have tried to search the Forum, but I didn't find anything.

Do I have to install some ROMs first?

Please be patient - I am total Noob - but I am trying to learn.

      Thank You
      Harry

@McGuiver Games need to be installed to show up - this is detailed in the installation instructions https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/First-Installation

@McGuiver The "13 games..." thing is a bit of a red herring. It actually is telling you there are 13 options listed in the RetroPie menu when you select it. It confuses a lot of first time installers. In the latest version 4.1.8, I believe, this has been changed to simply read "Configuration". Hope that clears it up. You need to install some ROMs, RetroPie does not come with any games pre-installed.
