Fullscreen Stretch?
-
Hi, just got my Raspberry Pi 3 along with a 5 inch display. I'm trying to get N64 games to stretch to the full screen. Currently it's full from bottom to top but has black bar on the sides, the retropie menu doesn't have black bars so it's not the overscan issue.
I tried changing the aspect ratio in various places like when launching the game, the emulator .cfg, and from the configuration editor. I also tried settings like widescreen mode, fullscreen to true etc. Still no luck.
Changing the video resolution or framebuffer resolution just changes it to different sizes of boxes.
I want to set a low resolution for performance but then stretch it to fullscreen without any borders. How do I do this?
Any help appreciated, new to this nice forum. :) -
@Jiehfeng Please do not post a support request without first reading and following the advice in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first
which version of RetroPie ?
which n64 emulator ?
-
The latest one, I just downloaded it recently from this site. The default emulator, glide I think.

I just checked Retroarch and changing the aspect ratio there makes it fullscreen. How do I link that to my emulators?

@Jiehfeng Please re-read the post as it clearly says RetroPie Version Used (3.6, 3.8.1, 4.01 etc.. - do not write latest):
I will assume you mean a non updated 4.1 anyway - but "Latest" isn't too useful to us.
If using mupen64 with the GLideN64 video plugin you can configure it as detailed here
https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Nintendo-64#mupen64plus see where it details the options -
Scaling Mode --> SDL_VIDEO_RPI_SCALE_MODE=x
-
@BuZz Thank you so much! Setting it to 2 works like a charm.
And what do you mean it's not updated? I just got the pi a few days ago and downloaded retropie from here, the file says 4.1 so I'm assuming it's the latest.
Anyways, is it possible to do the same stretching or the same setting with other emulators? Like the psx and PSP default emulators? -
@Jiehfeng 4.1.9 is the latest version - retropie is constantly updated. Images are created every so often (normally when I decide to do a larger version bump).
PSX is a libretro core and aspect can be changed from the configuration editor. same with lr-ppsspp - but if using standalone PPSSPP it will be configured differently.

@BuZz Thanks again! Is it possible that the PSP emulation get much better over time?
Also,
by setting this to fullscreen, will the performance drop? (Scaling Mode or Retroarch custom height and width)
