USB Audio, alsa-base.conf (file not found)
-
Hello, Im trying to connect a usb audio jack for use with the raspberry pi zero as it has no headphone jack,
Every result I get asks you to go into the sudo and change script in the newly made file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf although when I go to save I get the message Error writing /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf: No such file or directory and as far as I can find no one else has documented a fix for this. The link is here for the website ive been trying.
Please help, many thanks

That's easy try
su sudo root nano /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
:)
Kidding....
nano isn't able to create subfolders
What is your ouput foramixer -l
This looks more promising - in your guide they do a recompile of the ES... instead of changing the name of the audiomixer .... REALLY SCARRY -
Hey, thanks for the reply, the output for amixer -1 is
amixer: invalid option -- '1
Invalid switch or option needs an argument.
Usage: amixer <options> [command]
And then a long list of possible options/commandsIve followed,
All the relevent text is in that file just run sudo nano /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf change the default sound card to 1 or whatever one you prefer obviously 0 is default so not that one i also deleted the # from the line that says... load card-specific configuration files (on request) and now i have the sound coming from my cirrus audio card running debian 8 jessie on ras pi2
which seems to work fine when I have headphones pluged in although I would like if when there werent headphone plugged in that the sound would go through the hdmi cable, also any idea when headphones arent plugged in, why the emulation is speed up alot?
Thanks

@hayful59 Hello and welcome back.
- Please get familar with the forum formating
- You can copy the commands we gave you in this
red boxes
to avoid typos - the command is
amixer -l
notamixer -1
But nice you finally made it. Thank you for feedback, that will help others. Welcome to RetroPie... Enjoy!
Yes an automatic change from analog audio to HDMI seems to be doable since you can change audiomixers on the fly. I never tried that but it seems to be easy as long you do not need a reboot while changing
boot/config.txt

Hi again,
Sorry about that, after entering amixer -i the output is amixer: Mixer default error: No such file or directory and entering amixer -l just gave the above error when I thought you said amixer -1,And would you have any idea about how I would even read the boot/config.txt file
Thanks
