DraStic (Nintendo DS emulator) OUT NOW for pi2/3!
-
I updated the RetroPie Script but I cannot locate it into the experimental packages :(
-
@RetroPieNerd is it possible to modify the script to move bios files automatically to /home/pi/system?
edit: tried a few games so far on pi3, all about 100%
-
When using the setup script it says it cant find the Bios files (they are included in the Drastic directory) unless you rename them and put them in the home/pi/system directory. It also makes all the Drastic directories in here which is very untidy. Also getting errors about saves. Is this repairable with the setup script or to do with the Drastic Beta ?

if i get chance/free time ill go through my library and post a full results sheet so far though ive tested the following
note that 100% refers to the speed i havnt done a full playthrough only 30mins to 1hour
DBZ Supersonic Warriors 2 - 100% with glitch (had random blackscreen with cursor crash might be a rogue controller setting on this specific game though as it only happened occasionally when pressing B)
Megaman ZX - 100%
Megaman ZX Advent - 100%
Super Mario 64 DS - 99-100%
New Super Mario Bros DS - 98-100%all in all though for a beta its damn good enhanced resolution seemed to crash out on me after a bit though again that may be a rogue controller shortcut or somthing ill poke about and see whats happening in the settings good to see its on retropie setup now aswell :D
-
I got a pretty nasty error trying to run the dark spire. Screen went black, and a few numbers popped up in the top left hand corner of the screen that was something like "000.000% 000.000%"
Testing with another game now.
-
I didn't test the PR before accepting and there are a few issues - I don't recommend running it until I have sorted it. It makes folders in the folder wherever you launch it from, so if you launched ES from another folder, it would also create its folders in there.
I'm going to adjust the launch script so it changes to a configuration location etc.
-
Just got a bad rom. But i'm getting errors accessing data, I cant seems to be able to save?
-
@jcarhat same here
-
@lilbud
Black screen seems to be a rom issue or a or a bios issue, (make sure that the ones that come included in the drastic folder are moved to home/pi/system and renamed to nds instead of drastic.), I fixed mine by redownloaded the rom.The saving issue seems to occur on every game that checks the memory for data. saving issue seems to be a problem with the current build, hopefully an update comes soon.
Drastic is EASILY the best emulator for NDS on android, i'd be stoked if I could play contra on the big screen.
-
indeed some games cannot start due to detecting corrupt memory or stating unable to save
also in reference to jcarhats comment the black screen with "000.000% 000.000%" is the current rom speed and on some larger roms eg pokemon black 2 it takes some time for the rom to accually load this seems to happen on larger roms wereas smaller games load up more or less instantly so bear that in mind when testing a game
not really tested saving on mine just speed on a side pokemon black 2...full speed :D also those crashes i was having was a rogue controller setting for somereason it defaulted some controls on a couple of games on my gamepad to various emulator settings fixed that and now all th games i mentioned are fine :D
-
Now, the keyboard refuses to work in drastic. Games crash on boot and can't exit unless I ssh in to the pi.
-
Contra 4, New super mario brothers and dark spire have memory errors. Any NDS games that don't require saving, or is there any way to disable it to test how the emulator runs actual gameplay?
-
You are probably best reporting problems to the author - it's closed source so nothing we can fix. (Excluding some other issues with the retropie-module - eg the games database is not readable due to permissions etc).
-
I found that if you launch the emulator from cli, it works perfectly.
-
I have applied my fixes now - you need to update retropie-setup and reinstall.
configuration structure will be created in
/opt/retropie/configs/nds/drastic
with symlinks to the shipped games database / cheat file / custom bios files.When launched from ES, the config location will be changed to, so it is used for save data etc.
-
I'm losing my mind at how amazing this is!! I had forgotten how many great games there are for this platform. I'm glad it's a rainy Saturday here, otherwise I'd feel bad about all the gaming I'll be doing today. Thanks to everyone involved for integrating this so early. If this is a beta, I can't wait to see the final.
-
Keep in mind it's just a beta, there are going to be some issues and bugs...
-
indeed i was getting some random crashes on diddy kong racing a few mins ago
@BuZz
thanks for the updated setup seems to fix the save data so far :D -
@BuZz thx for your fixes - Looking on your post regarding unwanted folder creation: is it required to cleanup anything manually afterwards (retropie latest default installation)?
-
@daeks If you install from latest retropie-setup folders are now created in one place if launched from ES as usual. However, old folders in
/home/pi/
if you installed before will need removing. I cannot change the behaviour of the app as it's closed source (My workaround is to change to a set folder before launching etc).
