      I have been trying to manually input cheats for my games because most of the ones pre programmed in are incorrect and unusable. I have also made my own over the years and want to put custom codes in. I would like a step by step tutorial on how to manually add cheats for my games. I would also like to know why there is no support and i cannot find cheats for n64 titles

        @markratner This belongs in help and support. I have moved it.

        I haven't done much with cheats,

        There's a guide on reddit though:

            @markratner you're in the wrong project if you are looking for something easy.

            The pi is designed for learning. When you something that runs as many systems as retropie does there is no shortage of configs and settings.

              I've added several Game Genie codes to my setup and it's really not that difficult. If you don't want to use a guide, just open up one of the existing codes and use it as a reference. Below is a Game Genie cheat file I made for 'Cheetahmen II' for the NES.

              cheats = 12

              cheat0_desc = "Level 1 Infinite Lives"
              cheat0_code = "SZNUAUVK"
              cheat0_enable = false

              cheat1_desc = "Level 1 Infinite Energy"
              cheat1_code = "SXUXGUVK"
              cheat1_enable = false

              cheat2_desc = "Level 2 Infinite Lives"
              cheat2_code = "SXKUYUVK"
              cheat2_enable = false

              cheat3_desc = "Level 2 Infinite Energy"
              cheat3_code = "SZNZAUVK"
              cheat3_enable = false

              cheat4_desc = "Level 3 Infinite Lives"
              cheat4_code = "SZEUYUVK"
              cheat4_enable = false

              cheat5_desc = "Level 3 Infinite Energy"
              cheat5_code = "SXSXGUVK"
              cheat5_enable = false

              cheat6_desc = "Level 4 Infinite Lives"
              cheat6_code = "SXXUIXVK"
              cheat6_enable = false

              cheat7_desc = "Level 4 Infinite Energy"
              cheat7_code = "SXEZGUVK"
              cheat7_enable = false

              cheat8_desc = "Level 5 Infinite Lives"
              cheat8_code = "SZUUPKVK"
              cheat8_enable = false

              cheat9_desc = "Level 5 Infinite Energy"
              cheat9_code = "SXVXLUVK"
              cheat9_enable = false

              cheat10_desc = "Level 6 Infinite Lives"
              cheat10_code = "SZVUAKVK"
              cheat10_enable = false

              cheat11_desc = "Level 6 Infinite Energy"
              cheat11_code = "SZXZPKVK"
              cheat11_enable = false

                If it is a libretro/RetroArch cheat that is incorrect, or if you have a working cheat that is missing from a libretro/RetroArch emulator, my guess is that you would be very welcome to post an Issue about it in order to get the original database fixed: https://github.com/libretro/libretro-database/issues
