Naming of ROMs

I just got my rp3 and loaded retropie on it. I've noticed that a lot of the ROMs i have special characters and words in parentheses at the end. Can i edit them out or will it mess up the ROM so it is unplayable?

Just use the scraper and it'll create metadata that will show the proper name.

If you are talking about the filenames then Yes you can rename them and they should still play. As long as you don't rename the extension, everything should be fine.
