I have plans for a 2 person bar top cabinet. I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on whether i should put a HD tv in or a computer monitor. I will be playing mostly NES, SNES and MAME roms on it.

whether i should put a HD tv in or a computer monitor.

Typically computer monitors are better suited for bartop arcade cabinets (especially monitors with 1ms response times) but there might be few HD tvs that will work as well.

I will be playing mostly NES, SNES and MAME roms on it.

Most of those games that you'll be playing are going to be a 4:3 ratio so you don't even need a wide screen monitor. You could just use a full screen monitor. My friend put a nice CRT monitor in his arcade cabinet. He swears games look more "authentic" on those old CRT monitors and they usually have better response times vs the average LCD.

Computer monitor, for the sold reason that TV's only come in 16:9 ratio anymore, and old games are 4:3 and look best on that shape of monitor (so you don't get weird stretching or black bars). You can get really nice 4:3 and 5:4 ratio monitors on PCliquidations.com for pretty cheap.
