@meleu No big deal, at least you're trying to help. I'm finding a lot more people have posted that they're having the same issue, but sounds like they aren't getting a solution to their issue. I wish someone could post like a YouTube walkthrough video of what to do. I'm not understanding why it only works with the controller that was first configured from the start but none of the new ones, even though configured, are working in Roms.

The searching terms I suggested you took me to this thread, which took me to this YouTube video:

Believe in the forum's search engine. Can you see that being annoying rigorous with the forum quality inevitably makes the quality of the forum good? :-)

@meleu This is 3.3, I have 4.1, and do not have an option that says edit retropie/retroarch configurations. Where do I change this in 4.1?

@kage916 this option isn't on the emulationstation RetroPie menu, but you can access it via RetroPie-Setup. More info here:

@meleu I promise you, I am not an idiot. I'm sure it looks like I am one, but I am literally doing everything in these tutorials and getting nowhere. I even went in and set that specific controller under Choose joypad order, and it still is saying it is not configured, I am so upset right now it's unreal. I would facetime with someone if they'd let me to get this crap solved!

@meleu If we could communicate through email instead of here on the forum maybe that's a better idea for everyone. I hate to keep posting stuff, but I'm seriously at a crossroads where I have done literally everything that has been posted or shown in a video and am getting nowhere.

@Padge35 Once I turn the system off, insert the controller, configure it, and once I open a game, it still says it isn't configured. I have literally tried it all

@Padge35 it's an iBuffalo SNES controller. It detects it, I can configure it, and once I start up a SNES rom, or any rom for that matter, in yellow in the bottom corner it tells me it is not configured.

@kage916 I'm using ps3 control but if it recognises it like u said it should be ok.

@Padge35 The only controller that works is the one that I used when I launched retropie for the very first time, any other controllers do not work

@Padge35 Yes I did, I have tried so many different things and none of them ever end up with it staying configured once I launch a rom

@kage916 I think you f#$%ed up many of your system's specific config files after enabling config_save_on_exit option and it's making the solutions you're trying useless (if you wanna know why it's a bad practice, check this post).

If you are not comfortable with Linux commands to recover the retroarch.cfg.rp-dist files, I suggest a fresh install and start it again.

@meleu Would you be able to send me a step by step to recover it. I would prefer not to do a fresh install and start all over again in fear of screwing things up even further.

@meleu Or a tutorial for doing the fresh install and starting again. Had a friend who did the initial installation for me, watched him step by step and could probably do it again, but just need to know what all I need to do to completely start it all over.
