with videos "on" my ES crashes a lot of times of segmentation fault and stack smashing and i'm getting GLerror. Is there a limit to the number of videos? is there a way i can test what could be the problem?

I haven't heard of anyone else having the same problem. There is no limit to the number of videos because only one is loaded at a time. Maybe your videos are in an unusual format or something like that? Some more information would be useful...

Got a random question. Some of my videos generate underrun errors I guess when they play. I usually see the errors when I close Emulationstation and see them at the command prompt. Is there a way to see what videos are causing this problem. Like a filename of the video?

When I've seen underrun errors they are normally audio underrun and I've never really noticed it in practice so I've just ignored them. I'm currently looking at optimising the video playback somewhat so maybe these will be fixed soon.

@fieldofcows Just to chime in I see the errors too and in practice it hasn't caused any issue as far as I can tell. I have had the pi freeze up though but I can't verify if they're related. (It's happened even while not overclocking.)

Has anybody created a list or wiki entry showing what themes are available with the added video preview tags?

            Who's Scruffy Looking?

@fieldofcows Thanks for all the hard work you are putting into the video playback stuff. I'm loving the video previews in ES.

@fieldofcows Some way to to silence the sound on the videos snaps would be nice. Is that possible to make in the code?

                      Thanks for your great work!

As far as I can see I am not the only one trying to get ES with video preview and ignored with answer of updating it. I don't want to screw my actual build with some stupid MAKE command error made by linux (resulting e.g. segmentation fault) could you share with is is this an from source update or we have to switch to some other git branch or what?
Would be grateful if it's not my second post about asking of help with having video preview working.

@Melvin.FoX I don't have rpi, but as far I know you only need to update from source, video preview it's already in main branch.

Maybe if nobody help you it's because they didn't see your post or doesn't know how to help you. There's no reason to ignore you or anybody else. Maybe if you read the thread you can find the answer, but it's more easy to ask and wait for other people solve your problems.

I'm sure this was answered lot of times in this thread, but it's better to sit and wait.

You can update from binary to get the latest emulation station (update all packages is the quickest way to update everything).

Thanks for this. Unfortunately it doesn't give much of a clue.

                              This info would be helpful:

                              1. What were you doing when it crashed? Changing selection in gamelist? Launching a game?
                              2. What video was it trying to render? What format? Dimensions?

And anything else you can think of :)

@HurricaneFan an adapation based on the io theme.

@fieldofcows all right, will do a more intense research :)

It never crashed when lanching a game, is when i'm broswing the gamelist.

but give me some time and i will give a more in depth report

segmentation fault, going thru the gamelist, went 1 by one, then was comparing the differences in the play between these 2 and it gave a segmentation fault.

segmentation fault going from image to a videosnap, video info: http://pastebin.com/xfBPbFLz

                                  segmentation fault watching video: http://pastebin.com/J355jj5b

ES crashed (100% cpu usage) after midview this video: http://pastebin.com/Gr4xN8SQ

crashed when changing from one game to another: ES crash log: http://pastebin.com/5KGNJwHm
                                  video1: http://pastebin.com/Tk1JvTiw VIDEO2: http://pastebin.com/hqbfjiwP

Tried after that to change between the two again, no problems.

segmentation fault going from game to game when i watch a few seconds.

                                  *** stack smashing detected ***: /opt/retropie/supplementary/emulationstation/emulationstation terminated
                                  Aborted

this just happened when going thru gamelist, when changed from games that were in the gamelist.xml and ones that were not.

i'm not finding a pattern, but give me ways to give more info and i will

Tried to implement this into my theme (Futura) and every time I add any video code it breaks the theme and it shows the system the way it would when the theme.xml is missing, white background with default layout. The video does show though and play just fine just the theme gets shot.
I have the latest ES on my RPi 3 (v2.1.4RP), video and marquee tags are inside the gamelist files.
Is there anything besides the theme.xml files that I have to amend to make this work? Do I have to add something inside the main xml file (futura.xml)?

@FlyingTomahawk if you upload your theme to mediafire, mega or something like that, I can download it and take a look at it and fix what's wrong...
