@ruckage I would love to finally see the release of NewGen Theme and this theme as well.

Do you plan on adding video support to?

Not sure - Is that a modified version of ES? If so I'd need to know how to add the videos to it and ideally there would need to be a windows version of the modified ES as well as otherwise it makes it more difficult to test as you have to keep switching to the raspberry pi.

@ruckage I use this version of ES for Windows to test all my themes for Video Previews. You can also use UXS to scrape some videos for each rom. I have 5 games in 5 systems so it doesn't take long to scrape and it gives you enough to test with.

@ruckage It's officially supported if you update your RetroPie-Setup to the latest version.

The work was first started by @fieldofcows in this thread. Video Preview in EmulationStation

Here is also @Nismo 's Oldroom theme that's a great example of what you can do with it.

@ruckage Glad to you see back with Retropie, I really looked forward to the Newgen theme. But I'm afraid someone beat you to the punch. @FlyingTomahawk took the dead Newgen theme and made the Futura Theme in your absence.

So someone has just copied it exactly - I don't even get a mention . :( I still feel it's my theme.
edit: I take it back, he does mention me in the readme. However I still feel my original version is worth releasing - if only for the wide colour choice I have available.

@ruckage UXS is the Universal XML Scraper. It scrapes the metadata from screenscraper.fr. One of the best things about it is you can create your own scrape profiles so you can scrape whatever images you want (box art, fan art, game logos, screenshots, etc) and mix them into a single image. There are also pre-made profiles that mix images for you, if you don't want to make your own.

                      eg:
                      UXS Mix Image

Thanks, looks a really useful tool. It's a shame ES doesn't have support for multiple screenshots etc. by default but at least there are always people to find workarounds.

Yeah - I really thought that would have been added by now as it seems like it would be an easy addition compared to some of the other changes already made but perhaps I'm wrong. (I do appreciate it's volunteers making the changes and additions so I'm not critcizing.)

I actually made a post when I first registered on this new forum to any news update of your lmage Preview Project

Looks like Universal XML Scraper have alot of options when it comes to something similar what your where doing lmage Preview Project.

Sad to hear you was ill for most of last year.
I know exactly how it feels. Been under the knife now for the second time in 5 months but I'm soon back to work again.

I don't think @FlyingTomahawk ment any disrespect by doing a version based on your theme.

UXS looks far more advanced than the program I wrote to make the previews (it certainly would have been almost impossible for anyone else to use as it required lots of user intervention to work so wasn't worth sharing).

Yeah it sucks being ill, I hope you feel better soon. I've had some health problems for quite a few years but it was under control until the past year or so when things got bad again. I'm feeling well at the moment though so I'm making the most of it (just as well really as the hospital sure knows how to keep me waiting).

No ill feelings toward @FlyingTomahawk, I was just initially miffed as It didn't seem that Newgen was acknowledged as the inspiration for his theme.

Glad to see that you're back again.

I would like to say a few words since we have a situation here that I would like to clear and add a few missing pieces.

When I first joined this forum (3 months ago) I was looking for a different theme than what was available at that time so during my search I stumbled across this old petrockblock.com thread with the NewGen theme screenshots.
As many others I was VERY amazed by its looks, design and layout so I looked you up and saw that you haven't been online for quite a while. Your last post didn't indicate that the NewGen theme will be released anytime soon.
So I thought I use this opportunity and create a theme that is based on that NewGen layout and at the same time learn about this whole RetroPie and ES stuff as I go.

However, do to lack of skills I was not able to recreate it near as good as the original but it was good enough for me to use personally and since others had admired your theme I thought why not share mine as some sort of replacement until the real NewGen theme will be released one day....or not.
No one knew if you ever come back and it would have been a shame to not be able to use such a cool design. So great Job SEGA for creating the design in the first place and bravo to you for converting it to a very nice looking ES theme.

As you could read in the readme file I did give credit to you and I did mention "your" theme by name.
I tell you what, you release that NewGen theme of yours and I will remove all the Futura theme files from github and this forum. I don't really care if my Futura theme is available to others or not the initial goal was to use it only for myself anyways.

took the dead Newgen theme and made the Futura Theme in your absence.

There was nothing to "take" per se, except inspiration.

edit: I take it back, he does mention me in the readme. However I still feel my original version is worth releasing - if only for the wide colour choice I have available.

Absolutely, couldn't agree more. Release it, please.

Hi @FlyingTomahawk, as I said I was initially just a bit annoyed as it looked like an exact copy and it didn't seem like I was even mentioned but I did see you mentioned me in the readme so I edited my post and it's all fine. There is no need to remove anything, we all build upon what others have made and choice is good for everyone. Newgen itself was inspired by the menus used on the PS2 genesis collection so I borrowed ideas myself to begin with.

Good question - I'd like to know that myself ;)
It's basically a whole host of gastric problems. itstarted with really severe acid reflux years ago, I was given medication which suppresses acid production and that helped for a while. Then one out of the blue I found it difficult to swallow food and any food I ate seemed to remain in my stomach much longer than it should so I felt sick all the time so they game me another drug which again helped for about 3 years.

Fast forward to about 1 1/2 years ago and all my symptoms and more came back with a vengeance- nothing helped, couldn't sleep could only eat small amounts and felt sick all the time. I've had loads of tests but no conclusive cause for all the symptoms - the only major finds so far are confirmed acid reflux and hiatal hernia (knew I had those anyway) and that my esophagus doesn't work so when eating and drinking food isn't pushed down as it should be - it pretty much drops down by gravity alone.
Luckily I seem to get periods where I feel normal again, like now, fingers crossed I won't feel ill again for quite a while.

Sorry for the wall of text, that was probably more info than you wanted :P

                                          Thanks.

I've been busy this afternoon. I've drawn logos and made backgrounds for the following systems:

                                          Atari 2600
                                          Atari 5200
                                          Atari 7800
                                          Intellivision
                                          C64
                                          ZX Spectrum
                                          Sega Master system

I'd like to do a few more and then I'll update the nesmini theme.
