I've seen this kind of layout implemented in Attract Mode, but I'd like to know whether it's possible in Emulation Station. Any info would be appreciated!

I was inquiring on the attractmode forums in regards to a layout which incorporated the elements you described (console, handheld, and computer). I was told no layouts exist with a submenu type setup on the main wheel. I was wondering which specific layout your are referring to? I did see an implementation of sub-menus on EmulationStation recently, in the manner you described.

@CLU , you're right. I was thinking of this @ETAPRIME video on AttractMode and the Neon theme:
[removed references to youtube channel that now promotes piracy]
He talks about, "This is my Arcade room", "This is my Handheld room", etc. But upon closer inspection, when he's on the Handheld section, he's not flipping through a list of handhelds, he's already in the GameboyAdvance game list.
It seems like it should be a fairly simple thing to implement, heirarchical menus and submenus? We were doing that with 3DArcade/Emulaxian 15 years ago. If you really saw this implemented [in EmulationStation] somewhere, could you please post a link?
          Thanks

@EVEGames Thanks for confirming. Well everything you are looking for can be found in the demo here (he's releasing his theme soon based on what he's written in the comments. He has it organized by either hardware type or by company:

@CLU I think it's BS, after he selected Mame in the Arcade menu, the video jump cut to the mame carousel.

@CLU you nailed it! This dude is doing exactly what I'm looking for. Let's hope he follows through and releases an image, or at least instructions to update EmulationStation with these features.
                Thanks for the link!!

@lilbud the video editing is fishy, but it might be real. It looks like what he may be doing is using runcommand to run a script that shuts down emulation station and then launches it again with a different configuration.

@jdrassa , I can see what you and @lilbud are saying. The video cuts out at exactly the parts where you want to see what really happens. It's sketchy. And of course it does not help that I don't speak his language. But I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, mainly because this kind of feature should not be brain surgery, by any stretch of the imagination. Easy for me to say as someone who has never laid eyes on the code, maybe it's more difficult that I make it out to be. Not to mention, in the description of his videos, this guy says "customized version of retropie and emulationstation"... so not just EmulationStation but the underlying RetroPie operating system as well?
My hope is (assuming it's real) he shares his code so that it can become a standard feature in a future RetroPie release.

No problem. I'm looking for the same exact thing but for AttractMode lol.

This may not be exactly what you're looking for, but at least it's a start.
